The Sales Pop (Recent Purchase Nudge) shows recent sales from your Shopify store. By showing your visitors that others are buying your products, you turn your sales into powerful Social Proof for your Shopify store.
Add a Sales Pop Nudge to your Shopify store
Follow the steps below to add a Sales Pop to your store.
Step 1: Select a Group
Select the Group of pages you want to add the Nudge to, such as ‘Home’ or ‘Product’
Step 2: Add a Nudge
Click ‘Add Nudge’
Step 3: Select the Sales Pop (Purchase Nudge)
Find the Purchase Nudge in the Nudge Library. Select the purchase Nudge and click the cross in the top right to close the Nudges screen.
Step 4: Edit the Nudge
Click on the Nudge to edit it
Step 5: Set your preferences
Set your preferences for the Nudge in the Configuration Box that now pops up.
Select the number of purchases you want to show on your pages
You can decide how many sales you would like to show. You can choose any number between 1 and 10. The purchases will show up in separate Nudges, one after another.
Note that the number you select is a maximum. This maximum number might not always show up, depending on how many sales you actually have had recently. For example, if you select 10, but you only have 7 sales, only those 7 sales will show. You can view how many sales you have had recently in the Nudgify Data Feed tab. Read more about your Data Feed.
Moreover, the number of sales you choose to show interacts with the option not to display old sales (see below). If you select to show 10 sales, but you also set ‘hide sales older than 1 day’, less than 10 sales might show up.
Choose not to display old sales
By default, Nudgify shows sales that are up to 3 months old. You can choose to only show sales that are more recent and hide purchases that are older than e.g. 1 week or 2 days. For example: say you’ve had 10 purchases in the past week, of which 3 in the last 2 days. If you choose to hide purchases that are older than 2 days, only those last 3 sales will be displayed in your purchase Nudges.
Show purchases in a random order
If you choose to show multiple purchases, you might want to randomly rotate them. This way, your visitors won’t always see the same purchase first when they browse your pages. Just tick the toggle the randomization option on to randomly rotate your purchases.
We will rotate the number of purchases you have selected. For example: if you set the number of purchases to 5, we will take the last 5 purchases and randomly rotate those in Nudges on your page(s).
If you toggle the button off, your purchases will show chronologically (most recent first).
Make your Sales Pop persistent
Persistent Nudges stick to the page until a visitor dismisses them. Learn how persistent Nudges work.
When you’re done, click the green ‘Save and close’ button
Step 6: Activate the Nudge
Toggle the ‘Off/On’ button to activate the Nudge
Step 8: Save
Click the purple ‘Save’ button in the top right corner
Your purchase Nudge is now active on your page(s), and shows your recent sales as Social Proof on your Shopify store. Repeat this process for all the page Groups you want to add the purchase Nudge to.
What information does the Sales Pop show?
On Product Pages
If you add the purchase Nudge to your product Group, it will show recent purchases of that particular product.
On product pages, the Nudge displays the following information for each purchase:
- the product image, a map, or a pawn-icon
- the name of the buyer
- the location of the buyer
- how long ago the purchase took place
In the Styles tab, you can choose which image you want to show: the product image, a map of the location of the buyer, or the pawn-icon. More on display options below.
On all other pages of your store
On all other pages of your store, the Nudge shows the most recent purchases amongst all the products in your store.
The Nudge displays the following information for each purchase:
- the product image
- the product name with a link to the product page
- the name of the buyer
- the location of the buyer
- how long ago the purchase took place
What if a customer purchases multiple products?
If a customer purchases multiple products, we show these purchases in separate Nudges. We never show multiple purchases by the same customer on the same page load, so that your visitors don’t see the same customer name loads of times in a short time span.
Example
Say a customer called Natasha L. purchased 2 products: “Red Coat” and “Washed Jeans”. We show the following:
- On product pages we show the purchase of that product, so on the product page of the red coat, we show “Natasha L. bought this product: Red Coat” and on the product page of the washed jeans, we show “Natasha L. bought this product: Washed Jeans”
- On other pages we randomly show 1 product that she bought on each page load, so the first time I visit the home page, I might see “Natasha L. bought this product: Washed Jeans”, when I visit the home page again, or e.g. a collection page, I might see “Natasha L. bought this product: Red Coat”. We do not rotate both on the same page load to avoid showing the same customer name multiple times in a row on the same page.
You choose: show full details or anonymous Social Proof
For each sale, Nudgify collects information about the individual buyer. The Nudge collects the image of the product they purchased, their name, and location. By default, the Nudge shows the product image, first name + initial, and the city and country.
On our paid plans, you can adjust these default settings and choose how many details you want to show in your Social Proof Nudges. You can show the full details or make the Nudge as anonymous as you wish.
To select your options, go to the Styles tab and scroll down to the content section. Here you can choose the format of the image, name, and location details. You can find an explanation of the options below.
Image
By default, the Recent Activity Nudge displays the picture of the product that has been purchased. If there is no product image available, the Nudge will show a map with the location of the buyer or a pawn-icon instead. You can choose which alternative you want to display, or, if you prefer it, choose to always show one of the alternatives.
- Product or Map
The Nudge displays the product image, or, in case this is not available, a map of the location of the buyer. If the location is not available either, the Nudge will display a pawn-icon. - Product
The Nudge displays the product image. If the product image is not available, the Nudge will display a pawn-icon. The Nudge will never show a map. - Map
The Nudge displays a map of the location of the buyer, or, in case this is not available, a pawn-icon. - Icon
The Nudge displays a pawn-icon.
Name
They Recent Activity Nudge collects and displays the name of the person who made the purchase. You can choose how many details of the name you wish to display. You can choose between:
- First name and initial
eg. Maria P. - First name
eg. Maria - Initials only
eg. M. P. - Anonymous
The Nudge displays “Someone”.
If the name of the buyer is not available, the Nudge will also display “Someone”.
Location Details
Nudgify fetches the location of the buyer. You can choose to show:
- City and Country
eg. from Berlin, Germany - Country
eg. from Germany - None
The Nudge does not mention the location at all.
If the location is not available, it will not show in the Nudge.
What if the Sales Pop does not show?
- Check your Data Feed
If the Sales Pop does not show, the first thing to check is if you have purchases in your Data Feed. This is where you can view the Shopify purchases that have been sent through to Nudgify successfully. If the Data Feed is empty, Nudgify has no purchase data to show. You might have to wait for new purchases to come in. As per our Shopify agreement, we cannot collect your historical sales to display Social Proof Nudges. Data collection starts from the moment you install Nudgify. This means that the Nudge might not show up at first, if you do not have any new sales yet. You can simply wait until the sales come in, and the Nudge will start to show.
I see purchases in my Data Feed, but my Sales Pop does not show
If you see purchases coming through in your Data Feed, but the Sales Pop you added does not show, there are a few more things to check:
- Check the settings of your Sales Pop. Perhaps you have set your Sales Pop to only show purchases that have been made in the last 12 hours.
- Double check if you have activated your Sales Pop. Only Nudges that are toggled ON will show on your store.
- Check the page Group to which you have added your Sales Pop. Are you looking at the right page(s)? If you have added a Purchase Nudge to your product pages, check if that particular product has been purchased recently. On product pages, the Nudge only shows purchases of that particular product.
I checked everything, but my Nudge still does not show
